Origins of Baggin’ Rays

In 1982, Baggin’ Rays was born at UC Santa Barbara by a bunch of college students. They outlined the best ways to tan in a book titled “Baggin’ Rays, the Book.” However, after 30 plus years of dormancy, we revived the UCSB tanning club in 2018 with the hopes of eradicating vitamin D deficiency on campus and making our founding fathers proud.

From there we have met fellow baggers who are (almost) as passionate about sunbathing as we are, and they have expanded our tanning clubs to a couple universities around the world such as SLO, San Diego, Arizona, and Tel Aviv.

The clubs meet weekly in order to discuss critical issues (tan together), and they coordinate events that revolve around being outdoors. Some clubs meet at the beach every week to bag, surf, and watch the sunset. Others like to have retreats in the mountains where they can camp and enjoy the higher mountain sun. We love the moon rays and the stars too!

What began as a mere hobby has eventually grown into a family-owned and operated tanning club. Every dollar we raise is spent on raysing awareness, leaving our one and only mission as eradicating rampant Vitamin D deficiency worldwide.
